A tad mature but,

Thank you to all my people who made my 16th birthday an awfully lovely one:)
(By order of reception, no bias! I love all of them)
From Wooks, who knows I love cereal :) And your card meant a lot!

Charlatan has an eye for (dirty) details.Packets of flowers!
To make "flower tea brews" with :) She bought me this because she remembers how much fun I had pumping flowers til the tea spurt out at tcc.. Excellent for relieving stress. How can I forget the lovely picture you painted, you're not just an amazing musician (the Charlatans) but also an amazing artist!
B, V and D surprised me with a huge brown bag which weighed a ton.

They want me to set up a fruit stall :)
The second page made me literally roll in laughter, and I can't open it in polite company! But I can't deny I love it.. But not for wrong reasons.
Valerie's mysterious present, which I thought was a huge mug of some sort.
But it's a bear! In a jar! With a keychain! At least it'll never be rearing dust bunnies :)
Bakus's Berry Essence, really good stuff :)

From Anthia, PASTA SPIRALS!!! My favourite :)
From my dad
From Pearlie, the compass I really wanted+needed, and a "Private Collection".... One of its kind, really :)

Those who wished me:
Gabriel (4 minutes before midnight); Charmaine Lim; Pearlie; Valerie; Charlatan; Wooks; Charmaine Chung; Charis; Zi En; Dionne!!; Dom Tan; Bakus; Yingyin; Jackson; Ying Ru; Adeline; Chuanyue; Daniel Lim; Kitty Chong!!; Linette. (If I missed you out, sorry and thank you!)

Also, thanks for all those lovely cards/letters that really warmed the cockles of my heart, and for making my birthday so special by simply remembering (material presents are only secondary). I felt like I didn't deserve such awesome friends because I curse, swear and annoy them all the time. I love you guys.

A lot.

The Irony of Things

* Thank you to all my lovely buddies who put the "Sweet" in my Sweet 16 (so corny, like sushi) :) I'll blog about the awesome gifts on Saturday, when I have the time to upload the photos!

Today's quote from iGoogle:
"He taught me how to love, but not how to stop."
What if we all had a restrictive quota system for making excuses? I'd have them capped at 33 for every lifetime. We are thus forced to use each one wisely, at the most opportune moments to maximise their relieving albeit transient effects, at the moments we need to delude ourselves the most.

Consider human paranoia, and we might be marvelling at 33 out of 33 excuses left lying snugly in the balance for most people at the end of their lives, when the bell tolls for the last time, when the last note strikes air. The prospect of the next moment casting the previous one into regrettably pale insignificance would be enough to dispel any frivolous moments of pique to use a precious excuse.

When are we ever really confident enough about moments that demand lies?

Perhaps we'd be much happier, really, simply because there aren't enough lies to go around.

The Treatise of Longing

And when I refreshed iGoogle,
"I have found the paradox that if I love until it hurts, then there is no hurt, but only more love."

"I need you to be.."
"Yes?"
"Not sad."

"There's nothing wrong with the blueberry pie, people just make other choices. You can't blame the blueberry pie, it's just... no one wants it."

Soulmate

Physics was gooooooooood, mostly everything was doable.
And I had TWO pleasant surprises today, dammit.

So anyway, DT, Allison and I walked to the bus stop opposite the new MRT station (he claims it's a shorter way, which I don't quite agree with, but it's definitely a more enjoyable route because). After dropping Allison off at the bus stop, we proceeded down the sidewalk and I was telling D, "Gosh, I wish I'm fated to see him again."
And ^%$%$^&^&% the next thing I saw was this:

It was so insane.

AND

Whilst I was on MS Word just now:

Could it be..

I'm becoming more like Jim Carrey in The Number 23, because I keep seeing "333", "33", "3" *everywhere*. Instead of Fingerling, I'm simply being Yenling I suppose. Fingerling sounds incredibly wrong, like a more immoral deviation of fingering. I've been debauched, and I swear (on A's life, as usual) it's not my fault. I'm only just susceptible to bad influence.

Will be meeting D and Allison to have sexystudytime later. Can you believe they plan to build a mall at the Gardens? I'll miss Maju Mall, and Gardens won't be a cosy enclave anymore.

Pay Them No Mind

And everyone's looking 'round
Thinking I'm going crazy

But I don't care what they say
I'm in love with you
They try to pull me away
But they don't know the truth

Gosh.

Anyway, Lit was shitty, I didn't have sufficient time, I was getting to the most exciting part of my essay and then I had to stop, dammit. A Maths was shitty too. I'm thrilled about Physics tomorrow, finally a paper that doesn't leech patience.

If this post was a piece of paper, it'd resemble something like cheddar cheese.

6 More to go

And then the horrorshow commences. I like exam periods- the days stretch on longer but less structured, which I'm not sure I totally enjoy. And I miss proper curriculum, especially Lit lessons. I'm in need of some sarcastic humour in my life.

I kind of screwed up History today. Note that "three" rhymes with "History". Screw up one, screw up the other. There's something ominous about this.

You're The Church Bells Ringing In The Evening

I would like to be the air
that inhabits you for a moment
only. I would like to be that unnoticed
& that necessary.

- "Variations on the Word "Sleep"" by Margaret Atwood

It has been been quite illuminating, this correspondence, fleeting as it was, time and speech always in compliance with the haste of time. Fleeting as it was, I truly enjoyed it, although I experienced the Mathilde a few times. If he replies before my bus arrives, this will not end. If he replies before 3.33PM, this will not end. (It did, and it didn't, and I felt so relieved.) Sometimes I think it is like an OCD, but it is really my fear that tethers me to a pole of practicality. It is the fear of being proven to that it would end and end forever, and that's why I try not say such things. Every disappointment will gnaw at my heart and hope, and they will ebb, and I will have none. I have waited wistfully before, and I still do, only I keep a pair of scissors close. Just in case I have to clip wings off birds, or deflate balloons, that might stray too far, too high. I am actually growing into this feeling, and not the feeling that is growing inside me. It's as though I'm always here, and I'm just waiting, afraid to breathe lest something inside me is lost to the air. It is hard to grapple for things intangible- like the air we borrow and return, like the words we give forever. Still, I like waiting. It is when life resumes, and it gives me more to look forward too with each passing moment. It probably has something to do with a perverse trait of humans to have their desires lingered or denied. When it is happening to me, everything feels surreal and I'm even more anxious, and every minute I am ready for the temporary, crashing halt and this becomes like sporadic clockwork.

"When your mind becomes obsessed with anything, you will filter everything else out and find that thing everywhere." Yes, yes.

This
is exactly it.
